Mediterranean Tropicalism

this playlist is a love letter to salsa, the rhythm of latin america, caribbean blues, love in latin, but also tunes that blend into a rustic mediterranean landscape. It is my two favorite ecosystems entangled in loveletting, bloodletting even. 

a letter of antiquity, bringing to the fore the old. 

a portal, a time capsule to a time no longer with us. A reminder that things will never be the same. we can, however, transpose those feelings onto the present in ways that can manifest in a beauty that captures the essence of mediterranean tropicalism. 

think palm trees, bodies of waters, lush vegetation, seeded fruit, sun, sea, sardines, linens, espresso, tobacco, cigars, laughter, well dressed individuals, outdoor patios, slow ceiling fans, a sleepy thick air, storytelling, conversation, salty olives, juicy stories, the smell of guavas, love affairs, heartbreaks, tears of joy, nostalgia, sugarcane, saudade, heritage, love of country, of beauty, of things and people no longer with us. 

a cherishable moment with loved ones. commemorating the quotidian, the mundane, the everyday, the mystical, occult, embodiment of leisure. 

laid out on the hammock, shirt unbuttoned, swirling like tobacco smoke, lingering in the thick humid air are thoughts of grandeur, serenity and moments of joy.
